This is a question I have asked myself repeatedly this week. It seems like only yesterday we were kissing our baby bye as he was being transferred thirty minutes away from me to get the medical attention he desperately needed.
Now- today, here he is crawling and trying to walk, "talking" up a storm to anyone that will listen and being an adventurous- sometimes rambunctious, 15 month old boy.
God has truly blessed our little family. I do not write, or say this enough. BTB and I sat and watched as other babies in the NICU struggled to survive...All the while, in spite of a few setbacks, Timothy learned to adapt and thrive in his environment. We were told repeatedly by nurses and doctors that preemies are different "breed" of baby. Not cut from the same cloth that full term babes are. They are stubborn, strong-willed and courageous little ones.
Boy, were they ever right! Sheesh! Tbirds all those things and more! He is the sweetest little guy you've ever met. He gives out hugs like candy! He will seriously go to anyone. He does not know a stranger. I think that's because he's always been around lots of people- from day one.
As lay here listening to my sweet boy snore, { yes, he snores at 15 months too! That wife I am praying for--better be ready! Ha! } I am so proud of my little big boy. He is perfect. Maybe not Whattoexpect developmentally perfect, but our perfect 15 month old that currently has a hitting and teething problem! Both will pass, but those gorgeous blue eyes, that spunky personality and beautiful blond curls, they are ours to treasure! We love you Tbird!

BTB's Shark Attack!
Our first full day of vacay was an eventful one. And not the good kind eventful.
We had been on the beach for a few hours, and BTB went out in the water about waist deep and then all the sudden came limping back out of the water, pouring blood from his foot. Most of the family were down in the sand when he came out and grabbed him and a lifeguard.
To make this story a little shorter, the poor lifeguard was Russian and wasn't the best with English {always the best for someone who is supposed to be helping English speaking Americans! Sarcasm...}
He actually asked BTB to explain what happened into the walkie talkie. Well, since this is a PG blog, I won't post the words BTB shared with guy...Haha!
It was determined by the police and rescue folks that it was a sand shark.. Probably this guys brother...

So after lots of cleaning and wrapping I made some phone calls to some local docs we know.. And one was available to see BTB! Thank goodness!
We met him at the hospital, and in about 30-40 minutes later, we were walking back to the car. I sort of {ok, not really} felt bad that we walked in and went straight back, while others were still waiting to be seen we walked out. But, hey, what can I say, it pays to know people, and when your dad's a doctor, you know people in the medical field. But, really, a cold or a shark bite- who do you think should take priority?!?
Of course while he was getting stitched up, I had to take pictures. He looked over at me and said, "these are for the blog aren't they?" I said, "umm.. Yes.." Then we both laughed, a little..

Since it was a Sunday, and this guy is a family friend- he came in san scrubs to take care of him.
It was sort of funny too, because BTB is not one for wanting attention, and he became a spectacle on the beach, and in the E.R. All these other doctors, nurses and other medical staff members kept coming in and watching! Ha!
Another little humorous moment came on the way to the hospital. BTB looked over at me and says, "I'm so mad, I was going to take you dancing tonight" I just rolled my eyes at him and laughed. BTB doesn't dance. Well, that's not true, he dances, but it is usually really late night after lots of encouraging on my part!
Then, late last night, one of the other docs we know came by the beach house to take a look at it and make sure it looked ok. He's a plastic surgeon, and assured BTB if he had a bad scar, he could laser it! Ha!
So how about an exciting first day to our vacay! Sheesh, only The Blackwell's!

Hitting Isn't Nice
I've been doing a lot of reading on my Kindle. Not my usual "fun reads" but rather those sometimes dreaded parenting books.
T is hitting. And he won't stop. He knows the difference between yes and no, because he tells all the time whether or not he wants something. Here is where I struggle. In almost all the books I read, this "hitting phase" should happen later, not yet.

I've tried everything they've suggested. Holding his hands- saying no. Looking at him and telling him it hurts when it hits. And hiney pops.

{Enter soap box} Judge. Disagree. Argue. Whatever-- Get over it..We hiney pop. We all have our parenting style and this is part of ours. I'm not judging you.. Stop judging us! {Exit soap box}
I just hate that he is acting out like this. I want him to be my good little boy. I fully plan on bribing him once he is old enough to understand such... That is just good parenting! :) But, what should I do in the interim??

Water Day!!
I am sure y'all have been anxiously nail biting- waiting for me to post water day pictures from daycare!
Well, each and every Friday is water day, so be prepared for lots of water day related posts! :)
Starting with this-- which was with his stuff on Thursday:

Here are some of the sweet photos Miss Erin took for me of my Tbird and his girls playing in the pool!

Look at that face when it was time to get out...BOO!
Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Teefers
Yesterday--I blogged about Tbirds teefers. I thought I'd share with y'all whats going on inside birds mouth.

He has the top and bottom front four.
His first molars are ALL coming in.
And finally, his top canines are also starting to rear their ugly heads!
This is super frustrating. I feel so bad for him. I try to keep him as comfortable as possible-- armed with Tylenol and Gentle Naturals.

If you haven't tried Gentle Naturals, you need to! It rocks.
I think teething is one of those things that we need to be thankful we can't remember having happen to us. It appears to be some of the worst pain you can experience.
Little bear will just sit and keep his little finger in his mouth and cry.. It's super sad! :(
I guess I need to be more positive about the situation. It could be worse, he could be getting each and every one of these teefers separately. To which, I
think I would start chugging baby Tylenol and Gentle Naturals to take the edge off of my nerves! :)
Hope everyone has a great Friday.. Please say some prayers for Tbird ad these devil teefers!

I Wanna Get Beach Wasted!
I think Timothy may be a little “hung-over” from our short beach trip. Here was the scene at 8:10 am yesterday:
First of all.. It was 8:10 and we weren’t out the door.. which meantwe I was going to be late for work.
I attempt to wake Tbird up.. Nothing!
I pick him and lay him down.. Nothing!
Change his diaper..Nothing!
That’s when I had to snap this picture of him… Please notice my hand on him, trying to wake him up.
I then dress him..Nothing!
I am seriously laughing out loud at this point because the little man is sorta-kind-of awake at this point.. but is stumbling around like a drunkard holding onto my shoulders.. I was just envisioning him saying, “Mom, I’m good--I’m fine..I haven’t been drinking!”
He then proceeded to sleep all the way to daycare too! I was so shocked. He went to bed about 9:30 Tuesday night, so that wasn’t it. I really think he had a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep at the resort. But I know the sun and beach zap me, so I can only imagine what it does to an almost 15 month old little one, who is also getting four molars!
I hope everyone is having a great Thursday! I have felt so out of the loop without wireless at the beach.. But it was probably a good thing!
I needed to focus on my baby, BTB and my friend—Not internet. I am trying to get better with internet and phone monopolizing my life, and BTB’s life. I am afraid we are going to miss something with Tbird, because we are perusing the World Wide Webbers (remember when people called it that??)

Beaching It Up
Hey all! I hope everyone had a great weekend and beginning of the week!
We've been beaching it up, so I've been MIA... We had such a good time! Great news...We're going back! That silly thing called work is happening right now. But soon enough our feet will be back in the sand!
BTB and I have to thank my Heth for coming with us and helping me manage Tbird. We were there for BTBs work conference. So while he was getting some knowledge we were enjoying the beach and people watching!
Anyway, I thought doing an Instagram filled picture post would catch everyone up on our beach days!

Playing in the waves!

Playing with Aunt Hey

Playing with daddy

All the playing makes him sleepy!

I love this one!

Loving on Aunt Hey

Loving on Mommy

Sleepy!

Having a big time being Big Kahuna!

Mommy's breakfast! Yumm-o

T had such a great time-- he needed lots of sleep to keep going from day to day!

Friday Fun!
It's Friday! I am so excited because I have a five day weekend! yaya! :)
I was packing Tbird lunch and bag for daycare last night and listening to my ipod, and heard this song.
It so took me back to my high school days! Not the "beer in the console" part, but the rest of it. The song just made me smile and think about how carefree those days were.
And it made me think of time I got my car stuck on a dirt road. My friend, Kristin had to come pick me up...late, late night! She was my only friend that had parents that wouldn't demand to know why she was leaving. I mean, I couldn't tell my parents I got my SUV bogged down on a dirt road! {Sorry mom.. as you read this now!}
I lived in the super small town of Dillon, South Carolina.
And went to the even smaller high school in the next town, Latta.
I am not originally a South Carolina girl. My roots are planted firmly in Cincinnati, Ohio. But I love where I spent my high school days! I love my friends that are from that same small town and I love when a song brings you back to places and things in your life!
Back from my trip down memory lane.... Today is water day again for Tbird! I think he is going to start loving Fridays! :)
We also brought home the gift Timothy made BTB for Father's Day. It is so sweet. I just loved it! I will take a picture this weekend so yall can see it!
In other news, T tried Boston Market's Rotisserie chicken and loved it! And yall know how he is about solid foods! I was so excited!! :) But-bad news, I can only get Boston Market when I am in Charlotte! I was there Wednesday for work and brought us home two nights full of meals! {Yes,we like it that much!}
Anyway, I hope yall are having a great Friday! I can't wait to read about everyones Father's Day weekends!! So exciting!! :)

WILW
Hope you are having a great Wednesday! I enjoy playing along with WILW because it reminds me to be happy and thankful for the things in my life! I hope it does the same for you!
{I’m Loving} that I made PW’s Marlboro Man sandwich last night and it was so yummy! Yet again, BTB went back for seconds for one of P-Dubbs recipes! You may notice I changed it up a bit. I did red onions, tri-color peppers, Dales and pepper jack cheese for that extra spicy kick, yall know I love! :)
{I’m Loving} this sweet boy! He is so cute! And I love him so much..He is growing up too fast!
{I’m Loving} that I am going to the beach with my Hubby, Heth and Tbird!
What are yall Loving???

Groggy Memory
While watching a funny episode of The Nanny, a groggy c-section memory came flooding back. In the episode, the nanny was mistaken for a nurse, and asked to "shave" the patient, AKA, Mr. Sheffield.
That's where the memory popped up.
My belly got shaved before I went in for surgery! I guess I should of remembered/just known that, but I forgot all about it!
I remember the sweet girl talking to BTB and me just laying there.. I was already on good meds and mag/sulfate to prevent another seizure..plus, foggy mind from the two seizures I had already had. I do remember thinking, at this point you can do whatever the heck you wanna lady-just get me my baby!
Anyway, file this post under totally random! :)

MILF, I Am Not.
Here I am- way outside my comfort zone of blogging to share what happened to me on Sunday.
I think everyone remembers the classic line from American Pie.. It made the phrase "MILF" uber popular.

Well, Sunday I had an old man confirm that I am not a MILF. {Let me be clear now, this is not an honor I am going for, but a humorous way to make a terrible situation a little better!}
My car needs new tires. And to make this story even worse. My fabulous car, only one type of tire fits it. And to get new tires, this one type costs over $1,000. I know, what? Well, to make that long story short, we are trying to regroup and find a different solution. I will let you know the outcome.
Tire man is talking to BTB and I am just standing there. I don't know anything about tires, and I don't care to learn. I am holding my purse and our purchases from Dillards. The old {insert name calling} man looks at me and asks if we bought stuff for the baby. { I figured he just saw the key fit, toys and stroller in my car.} So, I answer, "yes, we got him a few a things." He then says, get this: "when are you due?" In my head, words that do not need to be on this blog were running through my head. But I answered, "I already had him."
Seriously guys, I had Timothy 14 months ago. And for the record, while I got rid of my size zero and two's after having Tbird... I don't look preggers. Depending on the brand, I wear between sizes 4-8. And, if I am in Ann Taylor, I am still a two! So there old man!
But nonetheless, I was crushed. I walked out to the parking lot, got in the car and lost it. Cried all the way home, got in bed and cried more. BTB was so sweet and understanding. He even gave me a nostringsattached back rub.
I had to go into work for an hour- later that night. I pulled myself together and went. I shared my horror story with my coworkers {all men}, and they told me that guy was crazy! Which helped. Then I was introduced to a group of 900 men, and it was met with claps, hoots and whistling! Haha! {being honest- it was an ego booster!} I am sort-of-kind-of over it. It was a gut/ego blow for sure.
And, in the old guys defense, {why am I defending him??} I was wearing a big flowy dress. But still..
Ok, now that I've spilled my guts and need to go throw-up from all this, I will be back to myself.. Nonsizezero and all! :)

Pool Fun!
Hey! I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a fun Friday and Saturday, for sure! I was asked to post some pool pictures, after my Coffee Saturday post... So here they are! And I am totally obsessed with Instagram!!
In the beginning, I was so upset they didn't have Instagram for Blackberry's. Then, like a ton of bricks, it hit me.. My iPad! So, now I feel totally cool! :) If you are wondering why I don't just get an iPhone-- my work pays for my phone, and I don't argue with free! Ha!
Anyway, here are a few fun pictures from Saturday after Tbirds two hour nap!

All that swimming makes for a hungry little one! But not very hungry. T is cutting FOUR, yes, FOUR teeth right now! He is teefer machine! And just like last time when he cut four teeth at once, he is running a low grade fever, has loose poops {gross, I know} and doesn't have the best appetite.
We weighed him Saturday, and the scale said 19 pounds!! Yayayaya! I just hope we don't lose any ground with this teething thing!
Anyway, I'm not sure if you all caught it or not, but I said we had a lovely Friday and Saturday..but no mention of Sunday. Well, because it was terrible. I've gone back and forth on whether or not I am brave enough to post what happened. I think after the initial gut/ego blow I took, I've decided to share with my online family. So, be on the lookout for a post that is going to make me cringe as I type it!
Ohhh, and my little guy might not be walking yet, but the child has no issues with steps. He can now crawl all the way up them! A reason to smile and celebrate on Sunday, when I just wanted to climb into bed and never reappear!
