Remembering Where We Come From: Giving Back

I am sure everyone has heard the phrase, “Remember where you came from.”  Monday I picked T up from daycare and we set out to see our sweet friend, Tiffiney at her studio.

Tiff is an amazing photographer and philanthropist. Her daughter Sadie, a preemie bay-bay, was born at 25 weeks. Sadie beat every statistic out there and is a healthy, happy 2 and half year old!

I think the time she spent in the NICU with Sadie made her want to give back to the March of Dimes and our local NICU, just like it did for us.

She organizes and runs a fundraising effort called Rescued by Love . The program uses photographs of children with angel wings to raise money for the Greenville NICU. I’ve been wanting to participate, but the dates weren’t working out for us to do it.

Then Monday, Tiff sent out a Tweet saying she was doing some last minute ones, if anyone wanted to do it. I quickly asked if she had anything available for that evening, and wouldn’t you know-she did!

T will be two at the end of this month. I am beyond excited about this birthday, because our developmental  doctors and therapist tell us by two the catching-up is almost complete. T will always be my preemie miracle. He will always be a NICU graduate.

Because of this, we are dedicated to giving back to our NICU and giving back to the March of Dimes. And I want him growing up remembering where he came from and maybe he will understand how precious his life is!

If you have an extra dollar,  or maybe you can forgo the Starbucks for a day and give! Tbird is number 26 on the voting. He’s the one in the cute hat and teddy bear!

If you can’t give maybe you can tweet my post to get the word out to your readers who may be able to give or link this post in a blog post you are doing.

I realize I am totally pimping my kid out right now, but it is for a really, really great cause! Any awareness of prematurity is good.
